oh wow, where to start. First of all, I hate when Jean is defined not as a hero, one of the first X-Men, or someone who saved the universe—but as the ~late love~ of Cyclops and Wolverine, a dead woman brought up only to generate manpain. (Especially considering how shitty Cyclops was treating her right up to her death)
Fuck this “oh Jean couldn’t control it and WENT CRAZY” bull. Jean is the WHITE PHOENIX OF THE CROWN, its ultimate and most complete incarnation. The fact that they’re even having a “Phoenix RETURNS!” major event without Jean is just mindboggling to me.
Plus, the Phoenix is Rachel’s legacy, and she controlled it for years (even wearing the red Phoenix costume!) without everyone jumping to “oh no it’s the Phoenix we must kill her” conclusions. To be honest, I’m unhappy with the Phoenix Force being stripped from her and given to Hope (all redheaded Summers women are just interchangeable, huh, Marvel?). If the end result of AVX is that Hope is the bestest Phoenix of them all, more perfect and in control than Rachel and poor dead Jean, I will flip some damn tables.
